Pink Narcissus were formed in the winter of 2008 when - ex front man of cult Brighton band The Flesh Happening - Oli Spleen, met teenage guitar prodigy Paddy Pinkie Winder, who had just moved to Brighton from Devon. They bonded on a love of flamboyant guitar-based music, particularly Bowie and Jane’s Addiction and proto-punk acts such as The Velvet Underground and The Stooges.
Pinkie’s virtuosity of guitar playing brought a much needed depth to Spleen’s darkly Burrosian lyrics which cover everything from the pain of human desire to apocalyptic visions of the future. But it was the addition of bassist Cod Riverson (previously of Hand of Blood) which brought the real depth of sound with his heavy effects-laden bass bringing a post-millennial Nu Metal flavour to the mix.
In January of 2009 the ensemble was completed when another teenage virtuoso, the enigmatic, Cookie Allen joined the band. Taking his name from Sesame Street’s Cookie Monster - another tie that bonds the band is a love of the work of puppeteer Jim Henson who’s Muppet Show and Fraggle Rock was deeply influenced by Jim’s love of music.
Though androgynous and elegant in appearance, Cookie’s hard-hitting energetic playing underpins the music with the passion and intensity needed for Pink Narcissus to evolve into the epic band they were destined to become.
Pink Narcissus are Spleen (Vocals), Pinkie (Guitar), Cod (Bass) and Cookie (Drums).
We think we will see alot more of this group in future.
The seed of Pink Narcissus was planted in the winter of 2008 when - ex front man of cult Brighton band The Flesh Happening - Oli Spleen, met the skinny madman that is Paddy Longlegs, who had just moved to Brighton from Devon.
They bonded on a love of flamboyant guitar-based music, particularly Bowie and Jane’s Addiction and proto-punk acts such as The Velvet Underground and The Stooges.
Paddy's manic psycofunkpunk style of playing brought a much needed depth to Spleen’s darkly Burrosian lyrics as did the addition of bassist Cod Riverson's soundscaping trip groove of a bass to the band’s sound.

Though androgynous and elegant in appearance, Cookie’s hard-hitting energetic playing underpins the music with the passion and intensity needed for Pink Narcissus to blossom into the epic band of freaks they were destined to become!
In the short year since they formed they have headlined a gig for Brighton Live and performed all over London and Brighton including a set on the main stage of Brighton’s Komedia.
